Wichita Trip to Visit Boyfriend Boss

Image
I recently returned from a trip to Wichita KS to visit my lovely boyfriend, his last name is Boss so it is not a cute pet name I have given him. *PSA: I am 110% the boss in our relationship.  He took me to Kansas City where we had a surprise visit to the Kansas City Zoo!  Zookeepers do enjoy going to other zoos more than most. It is so fun to get excited about another facilities programs and exhibits.  Boyfriend Boss at work, he is cleaning up his camel poop.  Kansas City Zoo The next day we ate dinner with some of his friends from college, mind you there is an age difference. 7 years in between us doesn't ever feel like 7 years but when I am 22 and we are around a table of between 27-31 year olds there are some differences. Nothing bad... its just a little more obvious that I am the baby.  *Sidebar Boyfriend and I met while both working at a Nature Center in Kansas. He actually had no idea how old I was when he asked me out. Casual h...

Sorority Recruitment

Image
Meet My Littles!   So along with being a wild woman I am also a  sorority woman, a sister of Phi Mu. I think that everyone if they have the chance to rush a sorority. It is the best choice I have made in college and I am a senior. I know without a doubt that half these women are my bridesmaids.  One thing that I happen to hear a lot is that people are surprised that different women I know are actually in a sorority. They say oh but you are so nice, or you don't act like you are in a sorority. All of their knowledge about sororities is based off of what they have seen on TV or interactions they have had where they assumed the worst! I am here to tell you that there are more sorority women than you think, there are more good than bad, and they all want to show you that.  With fall recruitment right around the corner (starting this weekend for my ladies) for my chapter here is a list of things to remember while you are going through: Be your...

Maryland Zoo

Today I was just offered an internship at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore working with the Chimp Forest Team. I am excited and extremely nervous. Primates are the most intimating animal besides elephants or dolphins/whales in my opinion to work with. So far I have worked with a wide variety of animals. I got started at the Milford Nature Center in Milford KS. There I was a volunteer and then hired as a Naturalist working with native wildlife of Kansas. Then I transferred to UNCW, the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and started working at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital and the Cape Fear Raptor Center. Most recently I just completed an internship at the Houston Zoo with the Carnivore Department working with amazing people and animals. So with my natural progression so far it would only make sense that I would end up working with animals that are even more challenging than the last. Two years ago with Milly the bobcat kitten! Boyfriend Boss and my amaz...
Not your average... So today I am writing this from my boyfriend's mother kitchen. Yes, that is correct. I am home alone while he gets to scoop camel and goat poop, lovingly and passionately of course. All the while avoiding doing some of my online homework which contrary to popular belief is not  easier than in class courses. That is a post for another day. So I am going to brag about one of my daily staples, my FitBit . If you haven't heard about the FitBit yet you are not on the personal fitness tracking device bandwagon that left you in the dust about a year ago. PSA: I am almost positive this is not a fad. I have had mine for over a year and can happily admit that I am addicted.  I was skeptical at first just like I was when it came to any Apple product that I now own and understand all the hype about. I have the FitBit Flex, but FitBit has a few great options to fit your individual lifestyle. You can check them out here: https://www.fitbit.com My device...

I am so excited to get started with this!  A few things about myself:  I am a senior in college finishing my bachelors degree in Natural Resource Management online I am actively pursuing a career as a zookeeper!  I am a member of Phi Mu Fraternity  I am a born and raised military brat and overly proud of it. The day they take my ID will be a very sad day filled with many tears.  I have two sisters and many adoptive siblings. I am in an amazing long distance relationship with another zookeeper, he brings so much fun to my life.  I love travel and adventure! If you want me to try something PLEASE tell me. Why? Because I will listen and hopefully be able to do it and let you know if it is worth it!
